Keep Your Social Security Card at Home

This should be basic to everyone, but some people still haven’t learned.  One of the easiest ways to steal your personal information is to simply steal your wallet.  If your social security card is in that wallet then you may have a very difficult time protecting yourself.

 

Rather than carry it around with you everywhere (do you really need it all the time everyday), leave it in a secure place where you can access it when you need it.  If you know that you are going to need it, because you are starting a new job or something then plan ahead.  Otherwise let it rest safely behind.

 

There is no need to increase your risk of identity theft by carrying your social security card.
